Does the ps4 controller work on ps3

Hi.. My Ps4 controller's ps button does not work on ps3 console.. Am I missing something or is it just normal pls..? This is normal. The PS3 recognises the DS4 as a generic controller. Thanks.. It's normal. It's the same with any controller not designed for PS3 as it picks them up as some generic controller.
