 Magdalena, Carmen Frida Kahlo Calderon was born on the 6th of July 1907, in Coyoacan, a suburb of Mexico City. She was the third daughter of Matilda and Wilhelm Kahlo, who was a German immigrant. Frida’s mother was kind and intelligent, but Frida also described her as calculating, cruel and fanatically religious.

On 17 September 1925 Frida was riding a bus to Coyoacán, accompanied by her boyfriend Alejandro Gómez Arias. They were returning home from school.
